Dash pot- what do I need to complete this?

Hi! I have the dash pot and bracket from my 72 orange 350. It appears that I'm missing a sprain, and a plunger. Where might I

purchase these parts, and how do I know if my dash pot is in proper working order. If I push the plastic piece in, it pops right back out.

Those parts don't normally come off. The plunger is supposed to be attached to the internal diaphram. You need a new dashpot.

Ok. Thank you Joe. Am I correct that These are not made new or repro?

The plunger slides INTO the hollow plastic part sticking out of the dashpot you show in the pic so, theoretically, that one would still work if you just find the plunger, the grey rubber boot and the spring.

BUT - it looks like the hollow plastic piece has some cracking in it so that might break off while trying to push a plunger in there....you wouldn't know until you tried. Sounds like your diaphragm inside there may be fine if you've depressed the hollow plastic tube and it springs back out on its own. On the other hand, even if a small part of the plastic breaks off you can add a little glue around the plunger end and slide it into what's left of the hollow plastic part.

I believe folks on this site have posted pics of a replacement or repro dashpot.......it may have a black rubber boot instead of the original grey rubber boot but I don't recall 100%.
