cylinder head torques

cylinder head torques

Just rebuilding a mates 72, 350. We,ve gone for Cometic Mls head gaskets (0.27). What torque do you set these at ?

Whatever the book calls for. It's the fasteners that make a difference in torque values, not the gasket.

Thanks for the quick response mate, last time I was in the states I bought a Chilton's manual but it only gives standard setting (82lb). I'm using standard head bolts, do i torque higher due to the mls gasket and do I torque them down in stages ??

I believe you torque same 82 but look to others and I always torque in stages just to be sure nothing snaps
