Cutting off old exhaust

IF I can't get the bolts unstuck (most likely original 350 exhaust) and I have to cut it off, any issues with driving on straight pipes for about 20 miles to the muffler shop? Besides a ticket, I mean.

I drove mine with the cat cut off before I put headers on it. Sounded real trashy comin' outta the Y-pipe. How do you expect the exhaust shop to get the manifold bolts out if you can't...? haha

You may be able to pull the engine after disconnecting the manifolds. At that point work on the exhaust bolts.

Thanks guys. I was thinking a sawz-all or my dremel. PITA either way but I'd rather deal with the manifolds after the engine is out. Still, given enough time, the penetrating oil should eventually work.

If you are concerned about the old wive's tale of cold air somehow getting sucked into the exhaust and causing damaged valves, that's a total myth. The one thing you do need to be worried about is, are the cut off pipes pointed at anything on the chassis that could be damaged by heat (e-brake cables, hoses, wires, etc)?

Good timing again Joe. I'm getting ready to try out the ol' sawz all. Already snapped a bolt.
