72 cutlass s cutting off
new alternator new voltage regulator hei distributor
But cutty keeps cutting off, just need help with this problem?
I bought it 6 months ago and im trying to make sure its wired correctly?
There's a red wire coming off the starter going to a relay next to the voltage regulator
Which powers the entire car if I take it off no power and cannot
Start car as well?? Plus when it does run it sputters and no acceleration
Power as if it struggles to move but in park it sounds like a monster
Idles high in park low idle in drive and reverse?? Just need a lot of little help!!

If you are running an hei are you running it on a constant hot 12 v source if you use the original resistor wire for the points it drops from 12 to 9 i think when hot. hei needs constant 12 v. You might also try to run constant vac. to the dist. to aid the low rpm in idle. is the carb o.e.m or aftermarket performance.

With a timing light you hook up to bat. #1 spark plug make sure you clean the digree tab so you. Can see and loosen dist hold down and slightly turn to get it to about 16 also make sure you disconnect the vac line if it has. Vac advance

Not to be a total grouchy jerk, but:
1. Did you confirm that the HEI is connected to 12VDC and not to the resistor wire?
2. Setting ignition timing is an extremely elementary procedure, the instructions for which are clearly described in the Chassis Service Manual (available free from WildAboutCars.com), as well as in Chilton's manuals, Haynes manuals, Glenn's manuals, Motor manuals, old copies of Popular Science, Popular Mechanics, and Mechanix Illustrated (available free from Google Books), and in numerous posts on this site.
Search is good.
