I see you didn't bore it. Did you buy new pistons anyway?

Here is mine!

This is a 71 350 fresh from the engine shop, it was bored about .030 and decked to increase comp slightly, new internals, and balanced. Went with a mild erson cam for just street driving, edelbrock performer 350, rochester carb, blackjack headers and flowmasters.

I did something very similar at first as well. What Erson cam did you use?

I'll have to get the spec sheet from the engine shop, he gave it to me when we were letting the motor cool down on the run stand, and I got excited and left it and some of my other stuff there. I don't think it is listed seperately on the reciept.

Yeah no bore was done the engine shop owner said there was no need because the engine was in really good shape and it just needed to be honed out, so that is what i got done. And yes i got new pistons, i went with the speed pro flat tops. didnt go with a mild cam like listed above i went with a lunati voodoo .539 .555 cam 241/249 dur @ .050. I have some #5 heads at JSOLDSMOBILE getting hooked up with his stage IV machine work and they flow around 270 cfm will be provided with flow sheets. They have 7/16 studs and i have harland sharp roller rockers im using on them. Combustion chambers are 66cc's so i should be right around 10.5 to 1 compression if i use a .040 gasket. Should be a strong running engine with over 400 hp when im done. I cant wait

Don't understand why you spent all that other money and didn't bore and hone it with a torque plate. You can still see ring marks. Doesn't make sense to me at all.

It did get honed out and that is just slight discoloration thats all. It didnt need to be bored out it didnt have enough wear and tear according to the shop owner with almost 30 yrs experience. He said hone is all it needed so that is why it only got honed out. Ill get it bored out next time i rebuild it if it needs it which im sure it will..

i had a 394 that looked like that. it was smooth, true, and round as could be. i did not want to buy new pistons and bore it so i just honed it and was good.

73 olds omega 350 build.............

I have a Very Similar combo. Just a few things. Did you get the bottem balanced?? and with a cam like that you are gonna spin that engine past 6500 rpm Very Quickly. You might consider a 7 quart oil pan. My combo is a 68 block with #6 heads ported cam specs are 538/538 244/244 @0.50 lobe is 108 installed at 102. My deck height was off quite a bit. was 10/1 on one side and 10/4 on the other. After we corrected the deck height. Keep that in mind. Also my heads were 66cc and we had to deck them to 62cc to get my compression at 11/1. You are going to need at least a 3000 stall converter. How heavy is your car??? You'll need at least a 4.10 gear to really see the engine come alive. My car weighs 2800 and 3000 with driver. I run 4.88 gear and this is at 5400 altitude so I lose 28% of my power. I make close to 400hp and lose 28% at altitude. Car runs Very strong.

Yes i spent a good amount of money at the engine shop. I got it cleaned, dipped, honed out. The rotating assy has been balanced and i got the new pistons installed on the rods. I will be using a 3500 to 3800 stall converter, i dont know exactly how heavy my car is but its a 73 olds omega and i have the entire ac and heater system gutted out of the car. I was planning on using a 3.90 gear but maybe ill use the 4.10 gears instead. Also i do have a melling high volume oil pump with a morroso pickup and ill be using the 7 qt oil pan with this set up. Thanks for all the comments guys. Oh yeah im down in Tucson AZ i dont know exactly what the altitude is at the track hear maybe a little bit over 3000ft. What size cfm carb should i use at this alt. Thanks
