Chrome covers PVC don't fit

I decided dress up my 1969 cutlass 350 with some edelbrock chrome valve covers. Now my PVC valve don't fit. The new covers baffles don't allow it to be completely inserted. I thought about cutting it down (which looks like it would work) but then I thought this has to be a common issue that has a fix already. So do I put in a 90* bend and trim it or is the a PVC fix out there?
