CCC Cam For 307 VIN 9 1985 442

Flat tappet cam. 60K on original, all stock 307 VIN 9.

Looking for some feedback. Was considering a newer grind cam. LOOKING FOR NO OTHER CHANGES. Not a have to, but figured as long as I'm doing a water pump and intake gasket...I might do a camshaft while it's down. Not married to that idea, though.

Original VIN 9 cam specs...

0.440/0.440 lift, 196/208 @0.050 lift duration, 256/270 109LSA

Was looking at a comp cams 218/218 as a potential swap. Something the stock ECM can handle, as well as not kill any more performance than what these 307s don't have to begin with. From what I understand, these cams try to help low compression engines fake a bit more compression. Could be wrong. My main concern is that it doesn't run stupid or make things worse than stock and the ECM can keep stock calibration. It looks minimal change, but you know how these things can be tricky.
Comp Cam specs.
0.456/0.456 lift, 268/268 adv dur, 110LSA.

Any better choices?

Any insights?

I know, it's a 307 and probably shouldn't even bother since options are limited. But just curious to see if there's a comparable cam to stock that will either maintain or improve performance with the CCC. Don't want to be throwin' codes every time the engine starts up, either, thus the limitations.

I thought Vin 9 was roller cam ? Almost certain. Vin "Y" was flat tappet. Keep in mind that you will almost certainly have to change valve springs.

It's a flat tappet cam for 85 VIN 9. The VIN 9 didn't go to roller until 1986. The Y engine went to roller in 1985. Valve springs are already an upgrade on the VIN 9. They're the same ones the diesel uses. But, not too worried about valve springs, rockers, lifters and pushrods. They're all NOS GM stuff if needed. If the Comp Cams cam works, it's not significantly larger than the stock cam profile so the stock springs should work fine with it I would think.
