I just had them rebuild and restore two of my original '72 455 QJets in June. Steve (stickw31) recommended them and I could not be happier with how they turned out mechanically and cosmetically. They also have rebuilt carbs in stock if you don't have one to send for a rebuild or restoration.

Depends on what you have now and your goals, from model/date code correct for the car to just something functional. Basically find a pre 1980's ECM core and have it rebuilt to match your engine. A 4MC allows for an easy swap to an electric choke.

Don't. At least, do not buy one from a parts store. There are lots of bad shortcuts that have been used over the years and mutilated many of the carbs out there.
Dig around and go with a reputable vendor, like Cliff Ruggles, Carb Doctor, etc. Sparky does great work but usually doesn't have cores.
Starting from scratch is an adventure.
