Cam options

so I called comp cams last week and they told me this cam would be the best for my low compression 72 350. I'm just trying to find the best cam for it that is actually in stock, so far all the big name cams show unavailable for olds cams. Heres the cam specs they told me to run.
RPM Operating Range:600-4,800
Grind Number:XE250H
Cam Type:Hydraulic Flat Tappet
Lifter Style:Hydraulic Flat Tappet
Camshaft Series:Xtreme Energy
Usage:Street/Performance
California Proposition 65:WARNING: Cancer and Reproductive Harm P65Warnings.ca.gov
Advertised Intake Duration:250
Advertised Exhaust Duration:260
Intake Duration at .050 Inch Lift:206
Exhaust Duration at .050 Inch Lift:212
Intake Valve Lift:0.443
Exhaust Valve Lift:0.448
Lobe Separation:110

I'm going to do Cam intake headers and sniper efi. Nothing major, and all internals are original. Also since it has 90k miles on it, do I need to have new cam bearings installed with the new cam? or will it be fine?

Your cam bearings will more than likely be fine. I would throw an oil pressure gauge and do a compression test to see where it is at health wise. Whatever cam you install, degree it. I would also avoid the Comp timing set, supposedly not very accurate. The 204/214 Melling cam is OK in a low compression 350 and by far the cheapest and available. After the install, 140 to 142 compression and extremely good oil pressure. I ran equal to mid 15's in the 1/4 mile with more in it. My ignition was breaking up over 4000 rpm. The cam was advanced two degrees but it was the whole combination. The 2004R with even the factory converter stalls 300 rpm higher, with the better first gear and the 3.42 gears were massive improvement as well over the factory 2.56. The gear swap was worth 1/2 a second in the 1/8 mile, alone. Also a similar weight to your 72, 3750 pounds, no lightweight.

Use the Comp cams one. And good luck with the Sniper. You’ll need it.
