Ill try that out with the senders.
As far as the carb, I seem to have gotten it now. I set it to 18@800 with tach, played with screws (lean untill idl droped then backed off to get rpms then backed off another 1/4 and repeated on other side) which changed rpms and timing. Reset that to 18@800 then adjusted screws some more. rinced and repeated process untill it seemed balanced. Timing settled at 16@800. Seems to run great now. Id like a little better responce time tho. Should I keep going untill Im at 18@800? Everything seems to opperate fine now. Just would like better responce. Im already surprised at how hight btdc is to opperate. Im good with these posts and responces, good intaractive input. Like I probably need a vacume gauge as yall mentioned to really set it proper. I dont know if maybe the trans will play into it, but its the 400. And one more thing, my cam or gears i got were set 4 degrees advanced I think. Ill dig out papers for exact cam spec if that will play a big roll, but Like I said its getting close. Maybe a good link to educate myself on how to to the didbits, but Im pretty keen on following a good explation. I havent posted much, but heck, I got all my info putting this thing together. I even got stolked finding that 403 I scored based on reading these forums. Dang near have a super stroker bone stock with my 7a heads and very minor machine work

Try 18 or even 20 base at 800. It will feel more responsive, give it a try. The factory setting for most Olds V8's with HEI is 20 degrees.
