Anybody using a Street Demon spreadbore?
Hey guys, wondering if anyone had one of these on their Olds in place of a Q Jet. I got an 84 H/O and was wanting to put the 625cfm on it. Was planning on building a 350 later which would probably be better with a 750, I wonder if the 307 could use the 750 in the mean time.. I know the Q Jet is a 750-800 but it has a limiter on it to keep the secondary's from opening all the way on the 307. It's also got a TPS kit available. so the trans will lock up. Thanks Jackson
The 750 should work. You will need a tuning kit, both the 625 and 750 cfm will be rich, out of box. Get a wideband, you have a factory O2 port. Then you can get the tune spot on.
I run a 750 on a slightly modified '60 400G. Have had it for ~5years with no complaints. Performs as well as the original Q-jet did. I've always tuned it with a vacuum gauge although a wideband is the best way to go.
I have a 625 Street Demon on a mild 350. It was too rich out of the box and only got 14 mpg. I leaned it out with leaner primary rods and jets by about 20% and fuel mileage increased to 18 mpg. Has been functional with no issues for 5 years. You can search my posts for more details on the rods/jets.
