Was at an OCA event over the weekend and I was the only Cutlass in class 7 without an original air cleaner housing. Is there a GM filter base that will fit this carb? Possibly re-using my 2 barrel lid from the original air cleaner? Have HEI as well so I'm willing to do some hammer adjusting as necessary at the back.
What carb and air cleaner are you currently running? My 70 came with a 260. I had an Olds 307 air cleaner lying around. When I put my Olds 350 in, I made a dual snorkel out of the 307 air cleaner and added the larger 260 snorkel, just like the factory did in the mid 70s. I also have HEI so it fixed that issue as well.

I have used the same air cleaner on both the QuadraJet and a Holley 600, so a factory air cleaner should work with that carburetor. I would think the HEI clearance would be the only issue.

I've got a Holley 650 on it, and your basic 14" Holley air cleaner with a 1 inch spacer. Here's links to both of them...... Sadly, the only other air cleaner I have is the original 2 barrel one.

That's good to know. Would that mean basically any factory 4 barrel base would fit at least the carb opening?

Yes, most popular 4 barrel carbs have the 5 1/8" opening. The best choice as recently mentioned is the 83/84 H/O and 85 to 87 442 dual snorkel snorkel air cleaner. Or find a regular mid 70's 350 and 403 or an 80's Vin Y 307 air cleaner and cut a hole and add your 2 barrel snorkel. I cut a hole in my Vin Y 307 air cleaner and bolted my 260 2 barrel snorkel on it. Looks stock, like the mid 70's H/O air cleaner.
Thanks for the replies guys, definitely got some ideas now! I'm leaning towards adding my snorkel to a mid 70's base. Never liked the way the uneven lengths of the 80's snorkels looked.
Does your air cleaner look like this?
If so most seem to be the similar smaller snorkel. I had a 260 air and a 307 air which has a similar sized snorkel, you may just need to trim it. The 260 had the bigger short snorkel. Mine ended up like the 73-74 dual snorkel because of it. Of course now I have a a second 307 air cleaner but I like the extra the bigger 260 snorkel brings in. I also added the air filter top it should not be starving for air.
Yup that's exactly it. Just dug it out of the loft in my garage. Also found two 4 barrel air cleaners that I haven't the faintest idea where I got them. May be able to take parts from all of them to make one good one. I'll get pics of the 4 barrel ones tomorrow night!
Qjet and Holley and Carter/E-brock all use the same diameter air horn. The problem with using a factory Qjet air cleaner on a Holley is clearance to the float bowls, especially with those center-inlet bowls. You would need the correct air cleaner from a Chevy that had a factory Holley like that, and expect to pay stupid money for that. Alternately, get an aftermarket air cleaner base and mate it to the underside of your GM 4bbl air cleaner base.
