72 350 rebuild ?

I would like to do a simple rebuild on my stock (very good running) 72 350 (8:1 compression) and was wondering what kit everyone recommends? Not looking for pistons, crank or any other hard parts

It's a stock 72 350 with 7A heads, but I would like a good set of bearings, rings and gaskets top to bottom for well under $300

Also, What camshaft profile is the most common besides stock that can help pick up the pace (performer with either a 750 vac sec Holley or 650 DP Holley?

Thanks

If you can pop for some stock used 14cc pistons you can get 9 to 1 compression with a thin gasket but between the pistons gaskets and swap you are gonna be into it appx. 300 but it won't need a balance . I use the federal mogul gasket set sold under speed pro for much less than the felpro set which is the same set. I also got king bearings. They got good reviews from the mopar crowd when I looked into it and they are priced fair. The sped pro rings moly face where the cheapest I found . I ran a 260h cam and it idled great ran strong fastest pass was 13.86 through the mufflers with an x pipe with 9 to 1 compression similar to what you want to do freshened up 73 shortblock and freshened up 72 heads . You could also just find a 1973 shortblock and freshen it up or even a 403. That's if you wished to gain some compression I know you don't want to change pistons but I'm throwing it out there.
