71 350ci

I am about to buy a 350 out of a 71 cutlass convert. So I was wondering if those are good street engines? Im not sure the head type yet but dose anyone know the horsepower ratings for 71 350s?

If you put that stock 71 convertible on a dyno right now It would be lucky to break 150 horsepower in my opinion

They are an excellent street engine, you just have to build them nice. If the price is right, jump on it.

350s are excellent engines. IMHO they are the best SBO you can buy. The 403 has more displacement but the windowed mains don't make it very easy for it to rev really high.

Alright well the price is $550 for a 350 just rebuilt and a tranny which i believe is a th350 not sure yet. Also would the holly street dominator be a good intake for the 350?

Call me cheap, but I wouldn't pay over $250 for an olds 350.
I wouldn't pay over $350 for a 455 either.

I'd tell them $300 for the motor and trans.

Just weigh out:
How bad do you need one?
and
How bad do you think they want to get rid of it?

Unless there is shop documentation of the rebuild and someone's reputation is on the line, I'd just consider it a core.

I know nothing is final right now but from what he told me its .040 over and that the rebuild just got done and he sold the car to someone who wanted to put a 455 in it before he could put the 350 back in

A rebuilt motor for $550 isn't bad if he can convince you what has been done and that it doesn't have a problem.

I just would not run 12:1's or the bottle.
I could not find those pic's.

BTW, if it has been rebuilt recently, with a t-350 is a good deal.
Verify anything you can.

P.S. Try staying sober. Good luck.

I got the engine and transmission this weekend, and the only problem with it is that the flex plate he gave me as a tooth missing. So i was wondering if the flex plate from my 330ci, jetaway will work with the 350ci and t350?

is this a good site to order from? http://supercarsunlimited.com/
Also would there be any headers that will fit the 350 and still go in a 64 f-85 without having to cut anything?

oh yeah what motor mounts do I use the ones from the 330 or the 350?
