7040255 BoolSheet?

http://www.ebay.com/itm/1970-Olds-W3...a2877e&vxp=mtr

Theese a-smell like-a thee Boolsheet to me
gold screws
butterfly screws not extended thru the shaft- secured how?
vague "bought a bunch of carbs at a sale" story

I asked point-blank:
original, restamp, or honestly [hint hint] do not know??

we shall see.

That is possibly THE crispest, clearest carb number stamp I have EVER seen...

It isn't "bought a bunch of carbs", its "I picked a few of these in the same condition..."

Yeah, I see buckets of W-31 carbs at auctions all the time...

I know, right?

I had to scrap a truckload of 'em last week because I could not get thru the garage. Tons of 7028253, 7028254, a whole box of NOS 7040255's.

Looking at this guy's other auctions, probably his rarest carb is for a 85-87 454 SS Chevy pickup. I don't think anybody at GM has ever seen an 85 454 SS.

Chris...you didn't forget about that distributor already, did you? It does seem weird the numbers are so crispy, and that he has a handful of desireable carbs with the same crispy numbers. It's probably your old buddie's brother with a new Ebay ID! Many people on ebay lie, that's a fact. Sadly, somebody's gonna' pay big $$ for that carb, too. It's not only about the numbers, it's probably got the wrong jets, hanger + rods, etc.

When did the carbs lose the disc ID (May '67 example) & get the stampings aft of the throttle (one of the eBay carbs with a April '67 date)?

In 1967. You won't find a '68 carb. with one of those.

Chris, I bet he has a NOS carburetor for a solid main 403.

Maybe I should inquire about that SMW 403 carb.
No I have not forgotten about the distributor, still have it. He got his negative feedback then tried to weasel out of it by offering a refund. I told him homey don't play that game, you get to keep the feedback you deserve.

Sounds like the same guy, same practices... feigned ignorance.
Lots of pretty clean fresh super rare parts with dubious origins. May or may not have the innards to perform properly as indicated by the numbers.

Hello fellow Olds Fans. I have been watching this guys ads for a while, and i can say without a doubt he is a forger. If you look at his Ebay rating you will see several others have been burned by him. He still has carbs on Ebay as i write, it looks fortunately that people are staying away. He has admitted that some are restamps but to one buyer that left negative feedback he criticized back that the carb was real which it is not. I hope the word goes out so no one else gets burned by him.

since this thread has arisen from the grave...

absolutely the most beautiful number stamping rochester never did. they just couldn't get those numbers all quite straight that time though. you can see where they faced the stamping area, and they did a nice job of softening the casting corner to make it look unadulterated. they did forget the secondary lockout. i guess it was easier to chromate everything too... except the vacuum break(which comes chromated, even aftermarket). it looks like the removal of the staking of both sets of throttle shaft screws was done by a drunken monkey with a hacksaw, geez. i can also see that the throttle body adjustments weren't done. it appears to have been poorly assembled, in general. i'm sure it runs great! ...smfh
