69 350 Rocket running hot, maybe lean?

My 78 cutlass with a 69350 is runnin really hot, I think I got it figured out last night by running dual electric fans... And then pulled a plug and realized it was a white-ish color, not the brown I would like to have seen. I just advanced my timing, so is that just a issue of me messing with the carb to adjust? It's a 4 barrel edelbrock, 650(600?) cfm. Has two screws on the front so im not sure which side is which. Seems to be lacking in power also, but the timing helped it... Just is runnin a little lean for my liking. Suggestions?

You have a major cooling issue with those temps!

First off, you got your cooling issue corrected? What are your current tuneup specs? What distributor are you running? Is the engine stock?

I think. I ran out of gas on the test drive last might to figure out if cooling was good. Couple mile drive and it stayed at 185-190 the entire time. So I believe so. I think it's the stock distributor, but it doesn't appear to have a vacuum advance port. Can't find it on the car at all. No random vac lines, nothing. So confused.....

And the engines not stock. Someone put diesel in it, so it's now bored .30 over, with a mild cam.

If it had diesel in it I'm surprised it even ran.
And it's .030 over not .30.
