What do you think is wrong with what you have now? If your car is a factory 4bbl, the Qjet is a newer and more sophisticated carb design than the AFB-clone Edelbrock that most people consider an "update".

It would help if you posted your definition of “update” so we know what your expectations are.

There are other reasons besides the carb that would cause poor performance. You have a switch pitch torque converter if not functioning correctly it would be a dog. Also timing plays a major factor in engine performance.

Definitely recommend you verify everything is working to stock specs before throwing "performance parts" at it.

Before spending a dime on new parts, it would be prudent to figure out what you're starting with. What rear axle ratio? What's the condition of the engine? When was the last time the car was tuned up? New parts aren't going to fix these "problems". Also, keep in mind that switch pitch trans or not, your two speed Jetaway still only has a 1.76:1 first gear. You'll be money ahead by swapping for a TH350 trans, with a 2.52:1 first gear. That will make a noticeable improvement in off the line acceleration.

This!^^^ My first '67 Supreme had the "high-perf" 330 and the previous owner had replaced the trans with a TH350. I used to terrorize the 350 powered Monte Carlos in Mesa, Az. with that thing. It was butt-ugly but it ran great when tuned up properly.
