Newby here. Just tinkering my new retirement toy. 1967 Cutlass convertible factory 4 speed, 12 bolt rear. 330 2bbl .
I'm just checking and documenting all the engine numbers I can NOT figure out if this 330 is a 250 or 260 hp.
I have a picture here of the small stamp on the drivers side head. And the cast number on top water pump is 394417/3.
Also, Im trying figure out if a bit over 4000 of this package of this Cutlass is rare or that's just a BS line the seller said.
Excellent forum site it's already saved me time and money! Lol
"1964 ~1967 code is stamped on the right head this code consists of a letter 330 v8=T than a production sequence number followed by a suffix code letter ( L=low compression E=2-bbl export G=high compression H=4-bbl quoted fro 442.com" Post #5 here https://classicoldsmobile.com/forums...ication-48352/
People love to say 442.com or OldsFaq is chock full of misinformation. The thing is it's also chock full of accurate information. Depending on the importance of the information being provided a proof check doesn't hurt. Especially if you are not familiar enough with Oldsmobile to notice subtle errors.
"1964-67 V8 models engine code is stamped on the right cylinder head. This code conlsists of a prefix letter (330 V8=T(1964-65) or W(1966-67), 400 V8 = V), then a production sequence number, followed by a suffix eode letter (L = Low compresdon, E = 2-bbl export, G = High compression, H = 4-bbl export). A 2-letter code on the oil filler tube identified the engine."
