#5 head value
#5 head value
I was wondering what a good pair of #5 bare heads are worth. I have a spare pair that are completely stock with small valves. I had them hot tanked and magnafluxed a while ago and they are good (still have the receipt). I'm not sure if I want to keep them as spares or go aluminum. I currently have a ported/ shaved pair of #5's that are 62 cc's and have 1.99/1.625 stainless valves, rocker studs, and guide plates. I think with the short block I have they may be too high cr. (10.9:1 with these heads) for pump gas in the motor I'm building.
I guess in short, what are a good bare set of #5's and a set of rebuilt and modified #5's worth?
Thanks
Tom

Hi Tom, the bare heads being tanked and magged would likely be in the range of $100-125. No idea on the ones that have been worked over. There's several members who race small block engines and they might be able to give you a fair value for them. John

I agree, about $100 is the going rate.
I can remember before I started ORO, their were Olds Sharks selling them for a $1000 plus on 442.com with 2" & 1.625" valves from a 403 and BB Olds installed. Talk about ripping people off.
