410670 Intake 4-barrel??

Can a 410670 intake accommodate a 4 barrel carb?

Motor is a 350 Rocket from a 72 Cutlass, I believe.

Engine specs are 395558 block, 409147 #7 heads, 2009674 build code on oil filler, and 410670 on intake manifold. Last time I pulled the carb, I recall seeing 2 large circular holes and 2 smaller holes.

I asked this on a old dead thread yesterday but haven't seen any views so I thought I'd start a new one.

Thanks,

Will

You mean like this? --

Those are 4bbl intake manifolds.

Also, if you saw this when you pulled the carb, then you may wish to ask yourself: Was that a 4bbl carb?

Four holes on the intake is a pretty good indication that it is designed for a four barrel carb. The large/small arrangement means it accommodates a spreadbore carb, like a Qjet. A square bore carb like a Holley won't bolt up.

It's rarely a good idea to unearth an old thread.

Scratch that...Looking at some photos I took when I put it in my 79, it only has 2 holes.

Damn, still need an intake and carb.

Thanks again,

Will

If you have an Olds 260 motor in that car (5th digit F), don't even think about putting a 4 barrel on top of it, it's too much for those tiny pistons. You will be throwing money down a rat hole. This simply wasn't done back in the day. The only way you are going to get a 4 barrel is if you go with a Chevy 305 or the Olds 350 (in the Hurst only).

However, I just looked at your car in the album, I see you have a 72 350 in it. Perhaps today might be your lucky day. I am selling my 72 Cutlass S and I will no longer need the correct year 72 4 barrel intake manifold I bought for it over the winter. If you are interested in buying it send me a P.M., it's just a dust collector for me now.
