403 valve cover conversion

I want to swap out the valve covers on my 79, 403. It currently has the 5 bolt hole covers. Can I just swap these out with the 10 bolt and good gaskets. How can I prevent leakage? Is there a fix for this other then replacing the heads.....not ready for that yet.

Thanks

The five-bolt covers don't seal as well as the ten-bolt covers, just because there are fewer bolts. The heads are blanked where the other five bolts would go, so the stock gaskets will seal with no additional effort on your part. I've always thought the blank holes in the covers look goofy, however, so you can certainly cut down some bolts and glue them into the blank holes with RTV for looks, but they are not required for sealing.
