403 valley tray gasket help

Anyone know where I can find some
detailed photos or instructions for installing
the metal valley tray gasket? And can I use
ultra black permatex around the holes?
And any hints for a good install of this
gasket?

Thanks! ,
Gary

I did this on a stock 307 pretty straight forward. I would use the black permatex. On the stock 307 intake I used rtv around all the ports exc. the crossover for the egr. Are you installing on a stock intake or aftermarket. whatever you do make sure you have nice clean surfaces. I used acetone to leave the metal surfaces bone dry to not run the risk of oil residue. I only ask about the intake being stock because I had issues with a valley pan tray on an aftermarket intake.

Ok this is what the one cross over fit like. I have a regular performer and im running the rpm right now the cross over section is taller on the o.e.m on the mounting flange of the intake and the same on the performer., but since the rpm is a non egr intake it does not need the tall section atleast that's the conclusion I came up with. The pic is of the rpm intake and the valley pan gasket. I have a slight ex. leak out of it and im re doing it this up coming winter. Another member here had the same thing on his.

That's why you need to use aftermarket gaskets.

So can i use the aftermarket gaskets and just cut the valley tray to fit down inside the valley to keep the oil off the bottom of the intake?

I use Mr Gasket gaskets with an aftermarket valley tray on my builds. The intake set-up with my RR heads requires one. I never did like the metal gaskets.

Or, you could just use the correct FelPro MS96009 intake turkey tray with the smaller crossover port holes. This is why the MS96009 is specified for 1972-older and the MS96027 is specifed for the 1973-up motors with EGR.
