350 rebuild

Hi guys. I'm new to working on olds motors and currently rebuilding one. My question is in regards to the reamain seal. Every thread i have read says something different. I ordered a felpro gasket kit from summit and has the 2 piece rope seal. Is that what i want to use? Guys say too but a ford or amc seal? Also should i soak it in oil before installing? Thanks

Ford Y-block neoprene seal drops in. FelPro P/N BS 6141 or VICTOR REINZ 191015701. The FelPro will come with two straight sections for the sides of the Ford rear main cap. Just throw them away. The Olds doesn't use them.

I have used that one and the AMC 258 6 cylinder with the ears trimmed. The AMC seal fits tighter.
