350 Clean Up/Rebuild
Hey, so I am planning on freshing up my 350 rocket. I am trying to find a manual on my 1972 Cutlass and a guide where it shows specs, having a lot of trouble. Can anyone recommend anything to help guide me through this process... here is my plan...
I have a 72 Cutlass, Auto, 350 rocket. I want to have a tune-up done, change/add headers, heads, cam and intake. I would like to add a posi unit and different gears, however I am trying to figure out what gears I have and what kind of Tranny I have to.. I know this must sound crazy that I don't know these things..lol but I plan on learning. Anyone who can direct me to a website that offers anything would be great!
Thanks
Jackie

Searching for some information on engine paint and stumbled across your post. Any luck with your upgrades? I am planning the same for my 71.
Not sure if there is a site. When I did my Chevelle I started with similar upgrades before moving up to a big block. For a stock 350 I would go with set of small tube headers, a Edelbrock Performer (7111) intake, a 650 Holly carb and a RV cam (something to give you a little more torque). The transmission is probably a 350TH which should be fine, maybe add a shift kit. The rear is a 8.5 corporate and a perfect candidiate for a posi carrier. Actually it may already have one. If you are going to make the swap, any 8.5 from 71 thru the early 80's will work. Get a series 3 carrier and go with a set of 3.73 gears if you want to do short drives or something a little higher if you plan on doing some long distance drives.
Of course this is just my opinion...

Gear should be the first change imo. Then headers, carb and intake, in that order. Mild cam (hate that term "RV") is o.k. if you keep in mind your low c.r., options will be limited.
