It's mostly all the same stuff. The pistons are different so don't just take them out of the 75. You can either use the 69 pistons (if they are in good shape) or use the 75 pistons, but you will loose some compression doing this.

Are you sure about that, Randy? If he has a low compression 69 350, don't the pistons have the same 14 cc dish? If it is a high comp 350 with the 6 cc dish, then they are different. They lowered the compression in the 73-73 engines with the large 80 cc chamber in the #8 heads. If the 75 short block is in decent shape, put the 69 #5 heads on it (after a good valve job) and your Cr should be 8.6 to 1 +/-

Well in my 70 service manual there are 3 pistons listed and we know (most likely) he doesn't have a W31 so we can rule out the flat tops. That would leave the 4 barrel high comp 6cc and the low comp 14cc. For some reason I thought the 73-76 pistons were cavernous, but you may be correct and they could be the same as the older ones.
I haven't messed with a 350 for A LONG time so I get a little forgetful.

I could be wrong, but IIRC, 68-70 low comp 350s had 14cc pistons and 68 cc heads. To lower Cr in 71-72, they kept the 68 cc chamber but enlarged the dish to 24cc. Then, in 73-76 they used the 14cc chamber but went to an 80 +/- cc #8 head. Then, in 77 they used a 3A head which had 77 cc chambers with the 14cc dish piston. Whew!
