330 heads for 350??

Hey all! I have been lead to believe that 330 heads will bolt to a 350, potentially upping compression and flowing better then the crap heads on this later 350. Have read about the AIR bumps and whatnot, I have the following questions remaining.
- With a smaller bore, I would think that the heads would create hot spots/ high comp zones towards the edges of the cylinders where the larger and smaller bore lineup would result in a tighter area around the outside ring of the piston. Any potential for detonation? Not like the compression will be shooting through the roof or anything.
- I would obviously compare as I disassemble, but should I expect to see a much different top end setup? the 330 is a 66, the 350 I BELIEVE is from a later 70s. Should pushrod length match? Will all cooling / oiling ports align properly??
Any advice in general to this would be appreciated. Thanks!!

What is the large number on your 350 heads? It will be located below and to the left of the furthest left spark plug.

Hi,

Maybe someone can verify this, but believe the head bolts diameter changed so if you do use the 330 heads check that your blocks head bolts fit.

Regards,
Jim

IIRC head bolts are larger on '77 and later blocks, they are 1/2". The 330 bolt holes in the head would need to be drilled. A '76 and earlier block would not need the head bolt holes enlarged.
