307 color

What color was the 307 in 1985? Was it GM blue?

I'm thinking for my rebuild painting or powercoating the motor the orginal color to the car, not the year of the motor. Make it that much more of a sleeper

Far as I know, it was BLACK.
I had a 307 in my 1983 Olds Regency Brougham. It was Black. Even the ones I see in the bone yard are black. If you've got a blue one maybe someone painted it.

No the 307 is long gone. It was black, but it was dirty and full of gunk

I thought they were blue

Black would make sense.

I heard that black disapates heat better which aids in the making of more hp, since the motor only had 140 to move such a big car...

I don't know if powder coating the block would be a good idea. Do they make powder coating compounds that are resistant to heat? I know POR 15 makes a really durable engine paint. It is only availabe in a few colors though.

Reg powercoat is good upto about 400 or so

Don't agree. Both of my 83's were black from top to bottom. That's how they both came from the factory. My 82 Cutlass T Tops plant was also black all the way.

Was this blue valve covers specific for one plant??

That may very well be. I never thought about that.

I have had 2 307s in deltas made in Fairfax, Kansas. and they both had the blue valve covers.
