Did the 1970 cutlass Supreme (Automatic) come stock with a 350 5.7?

I think they could be orded with either
a 350 or 455.
I have a 70 Supreme that came with
a 455, W-Z's and dual exhaust.

Yes, the standard engine in the '70 Supreme was a 310 hp 350 V-8. Optional engines were a lower power (250 hp) version of the 350 plus a couple of versions of the 455.

No. They came with a 350 cubic-by-God-inches engine. No one ever used the term "5.7" in 1970.

Ted X code pertains to '72 W30. In '70 it could've been ordered with the 320 HP L33 code 455 or the 365 HP W32 code 455 as far as big blocks for the Supreme went.

Hi Ted.
Not an X code. Came with a 2 bbl.
The engine on my profile. It had the
E heads though. A/C, drums and pwr.steering.
It's a beater that I picked up in Denver City TX.
I dropped an old 69 F-1 block C head 455 that
I had in the shop into it to blast around in.

It's likely a 350ci (aka 5.7), and if it is an automatic, you likely have a 350 turbo trans. That's based on production #'s and probability. Is any part of the engine painted gold by chance? Anything blue?

If you want to be sure what engine you have, pop the hood and from the front of the car, look above the water pump. There will be a series of 6 #'s (I'll guess you'll see 395558). If you see other #'s, post them up. Folks here will help you find out what size engine it is.

Are you sure the engine was original to the car? I thought a 455 was only available in a Supreme in an SX.

According to Setting the Pace, the 455 was available in any 1970 Cutlass Supreme (as well as the Cutlass S and the base Cutlass).

A x code car in 72 could be a 4 door, plain Jane family sedan?

Ted
Ted, send a driver down to pick
it up...Make sure he has a cashiers
check in his pocket, ha ha.

I don't mean to highjack this thread,
but I AM going to downsize...let me
know what I need to throw in the trunk, lol.

Wish me luck guys, I am going to see the
man in the morning. Hopefully, there will
be a 66 442 VERT in my garage soon...

Just to finish up, Austin TX Craigs L.
under auto parts, owner...
All the Oldsmobile parts from Marble
Falls TX are mine. They have to go...

My yougest son, is going to do some
inventory and catalog a bunch more
stuff that is not on the CL.

If this goes through, I am going to sell
the # match 69 442 project with ALL the
resto stuff I have purchased over the last
6 or 7 friggin yrs. A LOT..

The Supreme is on CL as well, 3500 obo.
I will be out of pocket for a few days, but
you guys can send pm's if you like.
Fingers crossed, Adam.
