1964 330 engine

Hello I am getting ready to buy a 64 olds with the 330 engine. I am not familiar with Olds engines. Will parts interchange with others and who make hi performance parts for them, Thanks Phil

Never had a 64...lots of 65s over the years...I think thr 64 330 had a shaft style rocker system..went to a different morte modern setup in 65.

All small block Olds motors are externally identical, so bolt-on parts interchange with those from a 350. Intakes, front cover, timing chain, oil pan and pump, distributor, etc. Cam will depend on the lifter bank angle. Exhaust manifolds need to match the chassis. As noted, the 1964 330s have two major differences from later small block Olds motors. The shaft-mount rockers and #1 heads are one and the driver's side water pump inlet is the other. The water pump inlet difference forces the timing tab to be on the other side of the motor from those on all other 1965-1990 Olds motors and as a result the balancer has a different timing mark location.
