New Category-MEETnGREET/CRUZ-INS

I'm suggesting a new area for members to post planned get togethers and Olds
meet n greets or cruise ins. We have a lot of members in close areas that would probably like to meet other Classic Olds members and bench race ,check out each others cars and possibly start new friendships.

We usually do this under general discussion.

It was just a suggestion ,there's a lot of info in General Discussion ,I thought a heading with planned excursions would be a quick find for ppl ,plus other big Oldsmobile shows, like Lansing could be loaded in there too ,for our newest members to find out about .

Oldcutlass has a point that these are already posted in General Discussion; however, I think it's a good idea. I'll start a new thread in the moderator discussion forum and see what the others say (I'm sure they'll respond here as well). FWIW, I don't know enough about the software to start a new forum. One of the "super moderators" or an administrator might have to do it.

Thanks , I think it would be a nice feature to have , I'm sure a lot of members have missed out on activities because of not knowing what was happening .I 've seen a lot of Ontario members would be up for an Olds Cruz so I 'd like to try and plan something for next year and having a place to post the details would be helpful , along with discussing with other members any other places and dates we could meet .

I would like to see it in it's own area.
Another forum I frequent does have its own section for Meet and Greets with sub areas for the region. West, East, South, Canadian etc.

just some suggestions

If it flies maybe the upcoming events could be listed as well.... an event with opportunity for meet and greet....

Hopefully more members see this and chime in ,so far sounds like it's a favourable idea.
I would think that you could place the new heading in the same section as General Discussion so it's easy to find.

Thanks ,I hope they accept the new heading ,I believe it'll be beneficial to all who use it ,
especially for those who are organizing Oldsmobile events.

I think this would be helpful for all, places to go and see other Oldsmobiles rather than just seeing pictures of the show we missed.

I have no idea.

The link I provided to this thread is in the Moderator Discussion forum on our site (only moderators can see this forum). I am one of the moderators.

I believe all website names are automatically trademarked while the site is a registered domain.

Good idea IMO at least for Oldsmobile specific stuff, car shows, etc. Is there a way to have a calendar attached to it as well so when someone posts an event it also gets put on a calendar that could be added to a favorites list in a browser?

The last thing this board need is more catagories. How about we eliminated a catagory for every new one we add. This site creates new catagories the same way politicians write new laws

We are a world wide site, you can do this yourself, I think the different areas should set up their own Social Groups among your friends list in your area. We started one for the Texas group and believe it or not no one uses it hardly.

I agree the Mods spent a lot of time in the past couple of years stream lining and combining the amount of different thread categories. It used to be a mess.

That was my opinion and a suggestion to an alternate route for you guys/gals. I am not a mod, just a member like yourself.

I think its great that the site can do that. I also like these posts in General Hang Out or Clubhouse. When I check this site I click on "new posts". It pretty much brings me up to date no matter whether it's been an hour or a week. I found the Southern Ontario get-together this way. Once I respond I'm "subscribed" to the thread. I'm pretty sure you can "subscribe" by clicking somewhere too but I like to throw my two cents worth in and that gets me in.

Sometimes I just don't think people understand the "ins & outs" of the site to realize that you don't need a new catagory to not miss a post.

I have tried twice to streamline this place. The last time my outline was agreed to but when implemented it was not anything like I asked it to be. I have given up.

I think the first thing we need is a site like this....where we can find out where all the meet n greats are happening. I think what Brian has proposed is a great idea and I do not think it has been discussed enough.
Is the answer NO because three members have said so? Where does Brian's idea go from here?

does this have any traction or is it still spinning like a RWD 98 in the snow?
