I have noticed that a lot of threads turn into chats and to save room on the threads and also PM boxes (i.e. hitting refresh a bunch waiting on responses) I have noticed that some other forums have an IM box or a chat section for chit chat. Just throwing that out there, not sure if anyone suggested it before or we have tried it out before so....

It's not a bad idea. We just need a decent chat interface. The one on a couple other forums I'm on is laggy, and difficult to navigate around in.

That would be pretty cool. Another forum I am a member of has a chat, but noone uses it. I think it'd get some use here though, I would definitely check it out!

 

My thing that i see on these forums is that we get so sidetracked on our topics lol, I go in i see a thread and have to go through like 4 pages before it gets back on topic lol.

 

It's a good idea, but requires a special plug in installed by our server admins. I'll see if they'd be interested in adding this functionality.

 

I'm told that the Chatbox plugin is in the queue to be installed as we speak

Just another idea on this.... is there a way we can get like the top part of the forums to have the chatbox... kinda like a frozen thing that stays on top so people are more enticed to use it while reading threads?

 

No unfortunately not. It can only reside in the header of certain screens because of how the VBB (forum) software is written. Good idea tho!
