time out issue

OK, if I haven't checked on here for more than a day or so, when I hit the "new posts" button, there are usual over 100 new posts. It takes me a while to look through them, and within about 30 minutes or so, I'm logged out and lose the ability to view new posts. Same thing happens when I'm typing a long response. Hit submit, and it says I need to re-log in. By then, my long winded response is usually gone, so I don't bother to re-type and just give up. Usually I don't have much of anything important to say anyway.. This is very frustrating here. Is there a way to stay logged in longer than a few minutes? Does this happen to others as well? What am I missing here?
Thanks

I stay logged in all the time. I have been bumped-off once or twice in the past year.

Umm, what box? There is a "remember me?" box. I just checked that and we'll see what happens.

We have had reports of this happening before, it is actually a function of your browser and can possibly be changed but I am not the person to explain. I do want to suggest an alternative way to post that would save your data and prevent frustration. Open your word processor (Microsoft Word, or even wordpad or notepad will work) use that to compose your message because it won't time out. You can then copy and paste it to here and you won't loose any of your work you put into composing it. Another short cut is to occasionally highlight your composition while working on it in this window and using the 'copy' command which temporarily will save it if yo get logged out. Either way works.
