Site Software Updated...?

Hi, All.

Had a failed login once today, since then I've noticed that the OP on all threads is labeled
"Thread Starter" (as you can see, just to the left ).

Are there any other changes, features, bugs, or Easter eggs we should know about?

I always click remember me when I log in and haven't had to in a few months
but today I had to log in. I was thinking the same. Maybe just a glitch?

Yea, something has changed from a few hours ago.

I see a little smaller font and general appearance. Some other details too.

No you are not alone.

Edit..Hopefully this might help people who use phones or tablets. I'll never know because I don't have such things at this time.

I too, had to log in, wasting valuable snow shoveling time. And Merry Christmas as well.

I also had to log in, aside from what Eric noticed, I also noticed some changes to the header labels and search function.

I've also noticed there are several (thread starter) members now as well, ha.
Is the font smaller or is it just my eyes?

Many sites I frequent are likewise optimizing to view on mobile devices, with the content all stacked on the left of a more or less standard 1366 X 768 view. There is a big swing to tiles, which I and many in my peer group hate hate hate. It isn't clear at all if the data actually supports the idea users on mobile devices are now the majority, or if it is a industry hunch, and no one wants to get left behind with a site that is less then optimum viewed on mobile devices. I do not ever anticipate using any mobile device exclusively, as simply it is too clumsy while doing banking etc without a ascii KB connected for fat fingers. A site I still use for radio which is a paid subscriber site had a mini-revolt when the board owner essentially told his mostly older paid users tough S. They came up with a sort of legacy display mode which is a whole lot better then ugly cumbersome eye-straining tiles.

Please! NO TILES EVER.

I kept getting a phishing scam pop up from the site last week.

Congrats to our new thread starters!

As the late great Paul Harvey used to say, "now I know the rest of the story". A smaller font is not what these 70 year old eyes needed but I am not going to complain.

Most browsers will increase the size of their text if you type "Command +" or "Control +" (plus sign and whatever your "Control" key is at the same time).

And, hey, Eric and Olds64, do you think that IB-José or one of those IB guys could change the text string on the "Thread Starter" flag to something less obtrusive, like "OP"?

So if our moderators are now noticing these recent changes, who or what is really running this site?

"Internet Brands," a company that runs many, many similar sites, for cars, and for many other things as well.

They host the site on their servers, back it up, and maintain the software, in return for the advertising revenue from ads posted on the site.

Thanks for the tip Eric. I think I used to know that. It seems to use a bold font which really helps.

Thanks much to whoever made the changes, I had been having problems with viewing photos and multiple clicks needed to navigate, all appears to be fixed now.
