partial quote in post

How do I enter a partial quote into a my post. If a post is long, and has a few topics and I only want to respond to one part of the post I would like to only add that part to my post and then reply. How is this done? Thanks

See that Quote button? Select it. Then (within the quoted area, simply highlight and delete what you don't want). If you delete any of the URL reference marks you'll end up with something like this:

[QUOTE=stellar;705298 If a post is long, and has a few topics and I only want to respond to one part of the post...How is this doneQUOTE]

What you want will look like this when you post. Note - you can always go to the Preview Post to confirm how and what will be posted. Make sense to you? See how I deleted stuff I didn't want in each of those? They are excerpts from your original post

You have to leave what's in the brackets on both ends.

The multi quote is used for quote multiple posts. You have to click on the multi quote button for all the quotes you would like to address except for the last one. On the last one use the quote button and they will all show up in one post.

Don't feel bad, a lot of us learned this the hard way, so it's actually refreshing to be able to help you avoid the mistakes we ran into (and still see with some quotes today).

Mark, do not be embarrassed - I never knew any of this stuff. Still not sure I understand it either.

What does the "Quote in Reply" button do?
