Member Galleries

I know how to post pictures in threads and have multiple galleries on other sites that are vBulletin based message boards. But whenever I try to post pics to a Member Gallery here, and I know the pictures are under the size limit, I get this:

(): Sorry, this image type is not supported yet.

All my pics are JPGs and I know that is one of the preferred file types.

What gives? Anyone?

Yes, our site is one of many that are hosted/owned by IB. Mostly all are car enthusiast sites and they limit pic size to maintain room on their servers for all sites. You will have to re-size your jpg files. I have done it before but am not sure how. I think the best way to do this is to use a photo-management program. I think the one I used was called Graphic Workshop. Another solution is to use an online photo hosting program but I don't know anything about that. There are some threads about this subject and those recommendations have showed up in them.

So what you're saying is that even though my pics are JPGs, they're still too large?

I can easily resize them. I was pretty sure that the size wasn't the problem since (): Sorry, this image type is not supported yet. leads me to believe that it was the file TYPE and not the SIZE that is the problem.

They load as attachments no problem. But they won't load in a Member Gallery.

Now I feel like a DOOFUS. I should have read your post more carefully. Ok then back to business. I need to check out why this restriction has occurred as I don't recall it being in effect previously. This may take a while but I will get you an answer.

They were just simple JPEGs that I've resized like what I have posted above^^.

Thank you for working on it.

Most likely then they were too big, easy enough to fix. I see I have a PM from you, we'll talk about it there.

All fixed. It was a combo of pics too large and settings on the site set too low.

Me too....

Omicron,
I'm having the same issue as Local Hero. I've never tried to upload any to the gallery before today.
The files I was trying to upload are less than 400k, and I thought the limit was about a meg. Are there any limits to the dimensions of the pic, besides just the file size limit?
thnx...

p.s.: I downsized a test jpg to 33k and it still doesn't upload. I wonder if it's b/c I'm using an older Photoshop. I'll try saving one using Paint.

p.p.s.: Nope; my Paint w/ Win XP doesn't do the trick, either.

p.p.p.s: OK... I give up. Kept .jpg extension, but did everything else I know to get it to upload. Saved it using two other graphics editors, and monkeyed with the size.

I get the same message, but since I'm a puter dummy I need some help. I never had a problem with XP but 7 really sucks. But then again I don't have problems on other sites posting pics.

PM coming to you guys. I need to see examples of the pics that won't upload to determine where the problem is.
