PS; its the blue double underscore words in the text of the sentence, not the links.

I use Internet Explorer and I have the same problem. It's really a PIA if the highlighted word happens to be on the title to a tab you want to click on. (the word "statistics" tab in my User CP comes to mind as an instance of this).

If you use Firefox they don't show up. There's ad blocker software available too

BTW in your sig you spelled "Padavano" wrong. Not sure if that's on purpose or what.....Just sayin.....

This doesn't happen automatically just by using Firefox. As you say, you need to install an ad-blocking add-on. I use Adblock Plus. It can be installed right from the Firefox website.

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/fir.../adblock-plus/

It's available for Internet Explorer, too.

I never specifically loaded any ad-blocking add-in but I may have checked a box when I originally loaded Firefox

Supposedly these were turned off by the site owners. They must have gotten turned back on. I'll look into getting them removed again.

It is for this reason I try to only navigate this site with my notebook, or PC at work. Very frustrating....

I watch the blue words that would cause the Blackhawks and men in black from surrounding my house.

Well, they're on with a vengeance now...

I can't even use the [Statistics] tab on member pages because the word 'statistics' is blue/underlined and pops up a VW page when you click it....

Click on "Show all statistics" to the right of the page (not in the folders), you will have better luck.

Ha! Great tip ! Thanks !

Although....the point remains that the ads/tracking garbage has become so prevalent that it now inteferes with the basic operation of the host web page...

They are again working on them. Seems they don't go away as easily as previously thought. Please stand by, a fix is in the works.

I'm using Chrome and had to add adblocker app, worked great. I think it's a mallware hijacker called "yontoo". If you go into task manager (ctl-alt-delete) and click on the "processes" tab, look for anything that says "yontoo". If you find it, uninstall the program and run anti-mallware software.
I don't think it's this site. When I was having the trouble it was only with this forum, as far as I know, but the trouble was on my end.

Try this adware cleaner. It's helped me in the past.
