68 CUTLASS/442 Column Info Needed
I'm in need of some info on a 68 A-Body Cutlass/442 steering column. I need the total length from the top edge of the bowl to the end of the splines. It's from the edge that is closet to the steering wheel to the very end of the splines that connect to the intermediate shaft. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
Mike

Hi Mike
Is this what you needed? The photo shows it just over 31" but actually I think it may be just under by a hair, maybe 1/32" but the camera angle I took this at looked just over. Let me know if you need anything else. I've also got a floor shift column although I'm thinking they should be the same.

I can't see the images but the measurement really helps. I have a column I'm trying to identify and just want to make sure.
Thanks

I'm not sure what's going on with the pictures. That happened a week or so ago too.
I've thought the 1968 was the only year that had the crush sleeve for part of the tube. It looks kind of like expanded metal, and then had a plastic cover that went over it. If you still can't see these photos PM me your email address and I'll send them there. John

Mike, that might be the difference. The non-tilt is about 5 1/2" and the tilt is about 6" here's a picture of the tilt and non-tilt.
1968 Buick A-body tilt column shift. Bad camera angle, 6" from wheel to bottom of bowl.
1968 Olds A-body non-tilt column shift 5 1/2"
