Large battery tray question

I recently removed my rusty small battery tray and unintentionally ordered the large replacement tray from Parts Place. It will not fit properly parallel to the length of the car but will likely fit at 90*. Was the larger tray an option in 1969 A body? If so does anyone have a pic of how it was mounted? None of the bolt holes will line up either way I mount it.

Instead of sending the tray back, I'll drill some holes and try it at 90*. I'll post pics once I'm finished or report it didn't fit. It'll be awhile. Another reason I thought I'd try it so that I can have the option of using a larger battery.

I know there were 2 trays available. One for the b/b & 1 for the s/b.
If I could get the hood open on my 69, I would shoot you a pic. (400 ci)

This is the best photo I could find with the large battery tray. It will fit on the core support without modification. Two bolts go into pre threaded holes in the core support.

Tim:

My battery tray holes do not line up with the core holes. Also, have you tried to see if your wheel well liner will fit now? That is why I am considering turning the battery. Nice car BTW!

Then your battery tray is wrong. The BBO cars all got the larger battery and larger tray. This is why the washer tank is on the passenger side inner fender - it conflicts with the larger battery.

Thanks Joe,
I had suspected the battery tray I received may be incorrect, that is why I was asking if it even an option. However my 1969 442 has the wash fluid reservoir on the driver side.

Ditto, mine as well. May have to do with auto trans or possibly assembly
plant? Mine is a Lansing built unit, auto, a/c, pwr. drum brake hardtop.

No problem with inner fender well. Washer fluid reservoir on drivers side.

I think I got it from Fusick. It is the large battery tray.

Only other problem is after seeing your workmanship I'll never be happy with mine. Good thing the hood will hide my sins.
