Just saying hello
Hey guys. Just getting back into cars after 14 yrs on bikes. Picked up an 80 T/A a few weeks ago, has what appears to be a stock 403. Looking forward to throwing out some rookie questions.

Welcome. Be aware that the last 403 was built in the 1979 model year. If this really is a 403 in a 1980 F-body, it isn't original. Good luck with it.

Cool. It's interesting that someone would go through the trouble of changing the mounts, accessory brackets, exhaust, etc to install an Olds motor when a 455 Pontiac bolts in place of the 301 that car was born with.

Looks nice. I had a '79 w a 403. Fun car but not all that quick. Way better than the anemic 301. Maybe the PO came into a wrecked one & swapped everything over.

Some hints on the engine compartment that you may or may not be aware of- Shaker is supposed to have a rubber gasket to seal the engine bay from the elements, hole in front right corner of the shaker should have a nipple & a drain hose that kinds of sticks down by the PS pump & drains to the ground. Air cleaner is supposed to have a cols air intake that goes into the fender by the battery. 1st two fixes are pretty cheap and should be worthwhile. Last one is more expensive (people want a lot for those parts) and prob doesn't make that much of a difference but looks tidy. Just trying to help.
