Vinyl roof delete

Wanting to delete vinyl roof on a car. Are the chrome pcs. Between the vinyl top and the paint held on by studs that could be ground down or is there some sort of bracket holding them on that when removed would leave a hole to be patched in the sheet metal ?? Thanks for any info provided or pics showing the bracket

The amount of work would depend on vehicle make/model....

The die cast ends on each side have studs with nuts that you access from the inside - through the trunk on the rear piece and after you remove the inner rear quarter trim on the front piece. There is also a screw that is hidden under the stainless trim. The center stainless part snaps over plastic clips that are on weld studs on the quarter panel. The stainless trim just snaps into place.
