I guess this is as good a place as any. And I don't want to waste your time with a new thread and very little info. I may have the opportunity to buy or trade for a 1974 Olds limo. Sadly the guy I am dealing with is notoriously hard to get in touch with and he doesn't like me much (i used to work for his competition. And by force not by choice. I was badly injured and running a tow truck was as close to bed rest as i could get.) He's also the proud owner of a junk yard and well known for always willing to make a deal on his terms or let stuff rot. That being said though one of his kids and i are childhood friends and i got all the info i could about it and set up the meeting to take a look at it Saturday.

I will almost certainly lose on this deal, but i have a custom Harley that I am absolutly fed up with. I can't seem to sell it or trade it for half of what I have invested. I also have an older blazer with a brand new crate motor in great shape. Various other "junk" and maybe some cash.

I'm a big Crown vic fan and he has several of them i could possible acquire. But I've got a bored out bigblock and trans looking for a new home and rather i restore it or make it a rat rod a limo would be a hoot. It would also be beneficial as I am looking for a hobby that doesn't involve sitting around drinking heavily. The sad part though after 5pm there is little to do in my small town and the bar is probably my favorite place to be.

I have a CDL and have owned a trucking company for a short stint. So i understand there will be a metric (F)ton of paperwork and high insurance.

If it's not ratted out horribly bad I could hang out at the bar and give the drunks a ride home. This would give me a reason to not drink or for people to repeatedly try and get me to. Even if I were to charge there isn't a doubt in my mind I will lose money here, But has anyone ever had one of these?

Sadly I have no pics and no idea what model it is. But all of the Google pics I can find show it looking like a freaking spaceship.

Am I nuts in driving a limo around for a personal vehicle? Are there any special models that I should be looking for?
He said it runs, but neither of us have any idea on the value . Anyone wanna wager a guess assuming its not a rusted pile of parts? Any advice or info on this is welcome. I can't even figure out if I'm going to ratrod it or build a 4x4 out of it. So any pics or input is more than welcome.

In trying not to derail this awesome thread here is a pic of what i am hoping for.

Strausstown?

I bought BMW parts a few times from a guy who lived there. He's in Bethlehem now, I think.

Had a huge garage backing on that field in the pictures.

I thought maybe that tiny burg was only in my imagination.

before and after

This is a 67 442 my Dad and I bought back in 79. We paid $200 for it and I drove it home with no brakes. It was wrecked on the left quarter and had a scoop on the hood.

That is him in it this past summer. He no longer walks or can drive. This was his first time actually getting to ride in the car ever. It was torn apart and being the car that he would some day restore all that time. Finally 8 years ago I went and got it that is the picture of it after it was torn apart, had a left quarter (the one off my first 67 442) put on it and had been across the country due to him moving. This is the return to Oregon to get restored. The picture of it done in it is after I took it back to Virginia and took him for a cruise. We are in North Carolina in this picture just going for a drive.

I am so glad he has been able to see it and enjoy it.

Larry

How did you ever make out with the Toro Limo?

I did see that Hershey used to use Chevy wagon Limo's to get the school kids to and from. Don't know about the Toro though. Where was it located?
