Drove the red 98 to work again yesterday, then my friend's blue 76 98 for a quick road test after replacing wheel cylinders and rear lines. 2 98s in one day...good stuff

took the regency out last night to gas it up and get gas for the mowers (guess what I did today...). 166.5 miles since the 'resurrection', a good deal of idling time, otherwise all back roads to 2 shows and back, 14.35mpg. I think without the idling this has a chance of seeing 16
I made the run down to Woodward from Pontiac down to 6 mile and back in record time! 1hr and 45 min. I got out there before the real madness hit and to get back home before the storms hit. Just made it minutes before it started pouring.

Took a ride to a local show. Rain in the forecast. 4 cars showed out of 100 that usually show. Urp. It was a good ride none the less. It's always good rowing a manual.
Apart from various errands around town, took the '71 out to the "night before the show" cruise I helped organize. We had 77 cars show up, which is a lot for this area. Four Oldsmobiles joined in including my '71 and Steve's '69 VC.
One of these days I'll have to try and get everyone together for a family photo.
Drove the W-30 after dark tonight for the first time. One of the things that surprised me about the car when I first got it was that it only needed a few bulbs. Those taillights look so mean in the dark.
I don't know about other years, but the lighting package on the '70 442 is really cool. Some thought went into it. Look at the pattern the front parking lights put on the ground.
I will have to do that Brian. People complain how dim the T-3 bulbs are, but I had no problem with them. One thing is the dash lighting doesn't light up as bright as I'm used to, but we also have navigation on both of our vehicles and that puts off some good (or bad) lighting depending how bright you like it.
Chances are that if you cleaned the oxidation from all the connectors and bulb sockets, and also cleaned or replaced the dimmer rheostat, your dash lights would be brighter. The bulbs themselves can dim with age, too.

yep, just got back from the last cruise in of the season at the cook forest inn. even won a door prize - my luck is improving! Even met the 'neighborhood mom' of some old childhood friends who was there with her grandson and his 72 truck....
After the monsoon quit around 2 PM here. I waited for the roads to dry and made the run over to Grand Rapids for the 28th street cruise. Small scale woodward.
Through the cities of Cascade, Kentwood, Wyoming and Walker.
Made it out several times this weekend in my '70 Cutlass conv; including home depot, lunch with my daughters, ice cream with same, and an evening cruise. Got her all wiped down and took a video for a fellow CO member who's interested. Not a match for him, but why would I sell it? Oh yeah, Seattle+Rain+Convertible = Garage 9 months....
Took it out Saturday. On the way back home past a Highway cop doing 75 in a 50. First question was "do you know the speed limit?" "uhm a yes officer, 50" Next question "does the speedometer work?" "Apparently not, I thought I was doing 60". Mr. Olds himself must have been looking down on me, because after a check with a clean license and a long stern lecture he showed mercy. Told me that was my only shot, next time I'm cooked with 6 points (my words not his). Guess its time to order a speedo gear kit. Still had a blast driving it though.
Took an invite to the Charlotte (NC) Labor Day Parade this morning with a little Dynamic presence. Carried a judge looking for re-election but the Olds was the ticket. I've never seen more video shot of one car than during the 1.3 miles of this event. Not another Olds was present and I didn't expect there to be. Good times!
I drove my '89 Custom Cruiser yesterday and it was euphoric.
Fortunately I remembered to shut the power tailgate window before the experience went totally out-of-body on me and I sailed Homer Simpson-style off a cliff...
On a two day venture, with the windows down, my wife and I covered over 360 miles in our '70 Cutlass S (lots of Yelling on the freeway part of the ride).
In Algoma was "Shanty Days" (along Lake Michigan). We took part in a Parade and then a very nice Car Show. 3 hours later we arrived in Stevens Point at Pfiffner Park along the Wisconsin river. "Truckin' Buddies" put on a Awesome show with nearly 300 cars in attendance, although the ticket raffle was a little strung out.
Counted 9 Cutlass's at both shows and some incredible full size 50's Oldsmobiles. Were looking forward to visiting both cities again next year.

Sorta kinda yes, backed her out of the garage so the buick could get some service on the lift, then put her back in the garage to mount the caprice cop car rear sway bar...
(is there a factory uprated front swaybar for the 1978 98 so I can re-balance the car?)

See there are those out there who know less about these cars than I did at the start. And he was even old enough to be around when these cars were all on the road.
Anyway, he seemed nice. He couldn't believe the interior was original. I have to admit, whatever they made these seats with, well they really knew what they were doing.
