Dpclassiccarz, thanks for posting. It's a beautiful car! And it is indeed the earliest VIN 1970 W-30 I've seen.

I will point out an interesting oddity in that, while your VIN is more than 1000 lower than the next earliest W-30 I know of, your Fisher Body number is more than 1000 higher than that car's. I'm not saying there's anything fishy; it's just interesting to see that large a swing in both directions. Of course, 1000 cars is less than a day's production in Lansing when they were running two shifts, so it's certainly possible for an earlier body to get delayed that much before final assembly.

Regarding the title of this thread, I'll point out that I know of two other W-30s with VIN lower than 166007 (but higher than the yellow car). Neither has the Broadcast Card (at least I haven't seen it), but I believe both are legit. One is completely unrestored; I haven't inspected it personally, but it does have some key parts. The other is owned by another ClassicOldsmobile member and its history is extensively documented, even if it doesn't have paperwork.

My only guess could be that the cars were assigned a vin before they were assigned a body number in the fisher body plant and certain color cars or certain option cars may have been produced together

BlackGold has previously disclosed to me the October cars he references above and he knows I appreciate that. However, I limited this thread to the broadcast card/factory doc cars only because we all know how much it takes to document these cars and that would have brought about quite a bit of discussion. And to be quite honest, believing these other cars are legit and knowing 100% these cars are legit are two totally different things. Not saying that they aren't true W-30 cars. They very well could be.

Dpclassiccarz, I was wondering if your decal (if original to the car) looked like this one:

Very interesting, as a very early build, I wonder if the Sebring Yellow car was temporarily pulled from the assembly line for the advertising department or for an artist, needing it to create this ad???

Strange that they list the options for either manual or auto, but only put 3.42 for the rear axle.

It's not really obvious until you look carefully that the car in the brochure photo above has a gold interior. I'd love to have a Sebring Yellow car with the gold inside
