Converting to power (front) windows on my '72 supreme with new door panels. I was surprised that I couldn't find any indication in the assembly manual nor the Fisher body manual on where the switch is supposed to mount on the door panel. It's a Legendary panel which has a bunch of punch outs, but certainly doesn't have the 4-switch punch out.
My default is to go where the crank would have been, but where was the stock location?
Bizarrely I couldn't even (well, quickly) find a picture of someone's door showing the power window switch!
I've got a set of OEM door panels I pulled out of the rafters of the garage. Here's some measurements and it looks like these have knockouts for the power lock switches and remote mirror location. So Allen... does your car have buckets or bench? I was admiring the photos thinking how sharp silver exterior and white interior would look when I noticed it wasn't the same car!
Then here's some of the passenger side. Funny, there's a knockout for the mirror remote, but not the 4 way switch so I don't think its the same fiberboard.
John, the passenger side won't have the 4 PW switches, just a single for the glass beside the passenger. Same in the back.
LOL, I just quickly grabbed a couple of shots off the web to show that. Your pictures are much better.
What puzzled me was the passengerside has a knockout for the remote mirror. I don't think they use remote mirrors on the passengerside until late 1970's. My first thought was maybe the fiber board was the same on both sides, which isn't correct. Now I'm thinking the mirror and power lock switches had the knockouts cut first, then the window knockout was cut for drivers/pass sides.
Many thanks! For some reason I was thinking it was up higher like the lock switch.....
The legendary panel has the swoopy trapezoid punchout for the remote mirror - both sides - instead of the circle. That punchout works better for the aftermarket escutcheons anyway.

I just looked at the Year One repro door panels I bought many years ago. They only have the knockouts for roll down windows and the door armrests. i don't know if they've upgraded their stamping dies to include power options.
