I have a 1967 Cutlass Holiday Coupe with an olds 330. It was restored about 10 years ago and looks pretty original. The distributor does not appear to have a vacuum advance, is it supposed to?

Yes it should. Here's some pictures of my 1967 with a 330. You should have that little cone shaped piece on the distributor if it were still factory.

The weather here has been bad. Mine looks a lot like the ones posted by 2blu442 (lots of cobwebs. It has been raining like crazy so I have not even popped the hood. I'll send pics when I can.

OK, here is a shot of mine, and I did find a vacuum Advance on the distributor but the vacuum line does not go where I expected.....

The water valve has a vacuum line coming from the A/C control panel. There should be a separate vacuum line coming from the front of the carb or thermostatic switch.

My Vacuum line from the Vacuum Advance on the Distributor goes into that round black thing in the top right of the picture. What is that "thing"? The "T" in that line goes to the intake manifold near the back. I have another vacuum line near the front of the intake manifold that is connected to the carburetor and to the transmission vacuum.

That vacuum connected to the T will work fine. Its T'd off of manifold vacuum. Before you set your timing you need to set the dwell. Then you will need to disconnect and plug the line to the vacuum advance and raise the idle a little bit until you are done.

That is the vacuum reservoir for the HVAC system's various flapper doors under the dash. There should be a second, smaller vacuum hose that goes through the firewall to the HVAC controls.

There is no third vacuum hose and the original HVAC system is a real mess. I hope to be replacing all of it soon with a setup from Classic Air.
