Hi,
My name is Bill and this week I bought a 70 Cutlass, it is my first "70's muscle car". I've had other cruise night cars but this is the car I have always wanted so it is more or less an early retirement present to myself. This is a Cutlass rebadged as a 442 W30 but I'm not too concerned with that. I was told that it is the original 455 and matching auto tranny. And it most likely has 119,000 miles as it says 19,000. I'm going to apologize in advance as I am going to have a lot of stupid questions lol My first two projects will be a lower radiator hose and then a new heater blower, wish me luck.
Hey Bill, Im from Mendon MA. Welcome to the site, a lot of good people here. If you can't find the answer to your question here you prob won't.
Lets see some more pix of car and V.I.N. along with cowl tag and we will tell you some things maybe you don't know?
Welcome Bill. I'm a former Masshole from Quincy. I bought my Scarlet 68 442 convertible four speed car in Dorchester and dragged it out to upstate NY where I currently live.

Well as of right now you know everything I know about it lol Well that and the fact that it has a small leak from the lower radiator hose and the heat blower will probably need replacing. Besides that everything seems to work, all the interior/exterior lights. The front end feels solid in the limited driving I did. I also want to get the CD player out of the glove box and just put it back to a stock radio with an 8 track under the dash. I'm actually listening to an 8 track right now in my home stereo system lol

I think the blower motor is behind the passenger fender. If you're doing it yourself, ask questions on this forum before you begin because there are some ways to do it without damaging the paint or red fender wells.

Very nice! I also love the color! I love your picture- something about the looks of a convertible with the top down in the snow! Brings back old high school memories!
Your right built in Linden, NJ. the thing that throws me is the original 455. Maybe someone else can chime in?
Sweet looking car BTW
From the research I did that makes it a Cutlass SUpreme SX. But i could be wrong, or the guy who sold it to me could be full of the same stuff my dogs leave in the yard
Good looking dogs! I have two labs male and female 1 yr old. What was I thinking?
Don't know too much about the SXs but Im always looking to learn something.
Danes typically don't, but the little female is still a growing pup and she has way more energy than any Dane I have ever seen. And I know lots of them.
I believe there is an SX site that people register their SX cars on. Someone on here may chime in on that.
It it may be a special ordered car.
My black 72 came with original 455. It was not an SX. It was special ordered with Ebony Black ( not offered in 72 unless special order) and the 455 was special ordered on it as well.

Thanks, I'll look for that, maybe they have a way to know if it is or is not.
Exactly, i bought this to drive not to show. I plan on retiring in the next 12 to 18 months. And it was getting harder and harder to get out of this thing lol
I really liked it but it wasn't the car I wanted to take into retirement
looks like the correct "E" head for a 1970 oldsmobile. To verify if its the original engine to your car, look for the VIN # stamped onto the pad under number 1 spark plug.
When you have a chance, post a picture of the Data Tag (drivers side top of firewall under the hood) this will show us more information.
