Firewall Repair

I have a 1967 Delta 88 - nice straight body, floor pans are good, frame has some surface rust but nothing major. Trunk needs a new floor. The only issue in the front is a rusted out split in the firewall just above the brake booster that runs half way across the firewall towards the passenger side. It would be straightforward to weld a strip across it (engine and dash are coming out so I’ll have plenty of access) - but I’m wondering if I should do a more comprehensive firewall repair (ie maybe replace the whole top half of the firewall). I’d like to get some opinions.

Thanks!
Andy

I would clean up the area in question as good as you can. You may find more extensive rust than what is visible which will help make the decision for you.
Good Luck!
