Getting the steering mocked up.

Well I can't hold off any longer, the body goes off for paint tomorrow. The next time we see it, it should look pretty slick.

Really digging it, bet she will love it. How big of battery you going to stick in it? What are you going to use for a motor and trans. Brakes?

Sure, I think my wife is about to put me up for adoption soon

It will be purely pedal power. After I get the steering worked out, I will get started on the pedals, fulcrum and rods. I've got some killer ideas for version 2.0...powered by a snowmobile engine.... will probably need wheelie bars

Based on all your efforts so far, I truly believe there will be a 2.0 version in the future... After all, can't hurt to have completed a fantastic prototype even if it does have pedals...

Lol, a version 2.0 is inevitable. I'm thinking it will be a 23 t-bucket since I can get it in a larger body to fit the engine....I may start on it next year. This is an active attempt to steer (pun intended) her away from all the video game crap and get her interested in doing kid things.

Lol, I'm never going to get back to the olds.

Very nice fabrication skills, your granddaughter is fortunate to have such a skilled grandfather. Can't wait to see finished car, I am going to go out on a limb and bet that your Olds in the background will not be stock.

Thanks man, It will be down to the wire with a delivery date for the body on the 22nd.... I see a late night thrash coming to get it all back together.

No, the 70 Cutlass in the background will not even be remotely stock.... looking to take that to drag week.

Watching this show Toymaker's on Velocity

Season 2 Episode 4 Misfit Toys With Motors

It reminds me of you. Looks like the guys are having fun building the mini cars on there. I'm sure you are having just as much fun yourself.

I'll have to look that up and check it out. Yes, this little project has been great fun and I'm happy to have the ability to give her something that nobody else has.

Steering is up and working.

And the body isn't looking too shabby either.

Thanks, good luck with the push cart, this little stuff is just plain fun.

The lever system is now functional and doesn't take much effort to move the car. Getting closer, only a few things left to do.

Now that's just not right... Can't wait to see it though... Just remember, we now have very high expectations, especially since you want to tease us...

It was a mad thrash but, we made it. She absolutely loves the car and we still can't get her out of it. Credit goes to my youngest daughter for the seat work, I probably would have sewn myself to it 12 times. All and all I think it turned out ok for a first stab at a pedal car.

Merry Christmas

Fun, fun... Reminds me of a story involving a brand new '61 Olds wagon and a go-kart.

Merry Christmas...

Well, I'm back..Sorry for the long delay, I took a bit of a hiatus from the internet and payed absolutely zero attention to it. So, as I sit here recovering from yesterday, I thought I would revisit this thread.

First off, I would like to thank everyone for the compliments, they are greatly appreciated.

Talia is having a blast with the car, although, it is still in tow mode. She is starting to get the hang of the pedals so, i would imagine she will be moving on her own before summer. Once she's moving, I can oblige the request of a video.

The car has also been entered in the Salt Lake City Autorama this coming weekend so, we'll see what kind of reaction it gets from the general public.

Not a bad weekend, the car came in 4th place out of 7 or 8 entries. This is the first time we've ever done anything like this before and had no expectations of placing, especially since we put almost no effort into the display. The crowd reaction was extremely positive which makes me think there may actually be a market for this thing. The best part was that little Talia loved walking around and looking at the cars and never got bored with it.

A Gear Head match maker... Little Talia and a 32 Ford... Extremely exceptional piece of work for, from all appearances, an extremely exceptional little girl... Congratulations...

Thanks guys!

She is quite the little girl. The car gene must have skipped a generation, my 2 girls really didn't get into it too much but, this one can't get enough! Hopefully she keeps with it, of course, I'm going to try to influence her as much as possible.

Ok, I'm back...

Thanks for the comments guys.Work has been extremely busy over the last year, working out of state for most of it. That combined with building a Pub in the basement, I have had zero time for anything fun.... that's about to change.

I apologise for not having a video yet, I will try to get that done when the weather breaks.

Anyways, here's a little teaser of what's to come in the near future... I will start a new thread when iI' ready to start this project.

Still in the drawing phase right now...

Thanks guys.

2.0 will be a slow build while trying to balance the '23 along with the Olds project since I have another two or three years before she is ready to yank the front tires off the ground. I am going to try and work in some sort of 2-speed feature that can be shifted under power, this will be a difficult project to package and keep a realistic look. If there are any Engineers reading along, I would love to here what they have to say on the subject of the 2-speed feature.

So, I've been searching around today trying to find a tulip panel for my Cutlass and accidentally came across this...

https://www.oldsparts.com/product/19...-go-cart-body/

A bit pricey but very cool non-the-less.
