400 console shifter cable bracket

Please help me confirm:

Is this the correct mounting location and orientation of the 400 console shifter cable bracket?

Would an Oldsmobile (in this case my '77 Delta, but also generally) equipped from the factory with a COLUMN-shifted 400 also have the (then unused) console-shifter cable installed on the side of the trans pan?

Thanks

That looks like a 350 bracket on the trans.

Perhaps the brackets for the 350 and 400 look similar. Suspect they cannot interchange re: different pan bolt configs.

This piece was on the transmissions before I removed the pan. I helpfully neglected to re-install it before I put the pan in place. Now I'd like to put it on, and in the right place.

There's lots of pictures of lots of things on the interwebs, including "400 cable brackets" - but I can't tell what is CORRECT.

Anyone want to weigh in re: the correct bolt holes / orientation?

I don't think I have it _upside_down_ (the opening in the bracket hole is supposed to face the driver's side) - RIGHT?

I don't think its supposed to be one bolt hole close to the gear selector (that would put it too close) - RIGHT?

This is from the ILT guys:

That looks like "the same location" as where I'm holding the bracket in the picture, RIGHT?

The TH350 brackets are different will not fit a TH 400. Good news is you have a 400 bracket. Here is a picture from a very detailed thread on a W30 restoration that show the bracket.

I bought both of my brackets from "TPP" they were close, but both of them required some minor mods to make them functional. After the mods they worked fine.
Thanks, Ron

Thank you. The bracket shown on the W30 trans looks like its in "the same location" as I plan to put mine (shown with my hands).

Perhaps this would have been "more obvious" if I had a console shift cable to work with.
