67 400 E Block
Hi Guys,
I am in search of a 67 400 E Block for my 67 442. I recently took it apart due to a rod going through the pan, but in doing so I noticed the water ports or jackets have cracks in about three cylinders on one side and one on the other side. I purchased this car 4 years ago and finally finished putting everything back to stock. The interior, electrical wiring, the dash intake manifold and exhaust manifolds. The owner at the machine shop told me these cracks are because the previous owner let it freeze and caused the cracks. I know the car sat in a field in Missouri for years before I found it. Who knew right? Anyway the machine shop guy told me that it is repairable but it would cost me so much more to do and if I could get another block, it would be less expensive for me? Any thoughts on that? I have never seen this on a block before, is this the norm for Olds blocks or this can happen to any make? So if anyone knows of an engine for me, let me know. If I can't find another 400 I might go with a 425 Tornado engine.
Thanks,
Augie

I recently picked up a 400 E block with flat top pistons, rods and stick crank. It did have a spun bearing.
B heads
390390 intake
I haven't had time yet to have the parts magnafluxed or the crank checked to be sure it can be turned.
I would want to sell it all as a package deal.
Biggest issue would be shipping,I am in Indiana.

I have a 67 E Block that is a Jasper rebuild some time ago, I pulled it out of a 67 442 Convertible, crank is drilled for manual trans also... It turns over, but would need rebuilt, it sat outside for 10 plus years in the car.. Not sure of the bore, probably been bored .30 over.. I never tore it down.. Engine is complete except carb, will sell as a short block. I have this in my garage for 10 plus years, time to let it go... Engine is located is Southeastern, Indiana 47025

Thanks for responding to my search. Is the block apart? See this is what I have an issue with. If I can not see the water jackets or ports around the cylinders it's just a gamble for me..These are a few pictures of what I found when I removed the heads of my engine..
cracks through the water ports...
Still ran strong, never overheated, but the upper radiator hose would get rock hard in less than 10 minutes of starting..
More cracks

Great! How do we do this? I can drive down to you and pick it up. Just need an address and I can look it up.
Just have to figure out when is good for both of us. I work all day Sundays so any other day would be ok.
